Women development Cell

The main objective of the cell is to look into the grievances of the women, both staff members (teaching and non-teaching) as well as students and provide guidance and help to them. The Prime Role of Women Development Cell (WDC) of the College is to deal with cases of sexual harassment and moreover, implementation of the Women policy, in general to promote the well being of female student, teaching and non-teaching women staff of the college.

Aims Of WDC

  • To prevent sexual harassment and to promote general well-being of female students, teaching and non teaching women staff of the college.
  • To create social awareness about the problems of women and in particular regarding gender discrimination.
  • To create legal awareness on specific issues concerning girl students and women.
  • To provide career counselling.

Objectivies Of WDC

  • Promotion, development and dissemination of knowledge regarding the role of girl students and women in the present social context.
  • To organize various types of training programmes and create awareness about self-employment schemes for the encouragement of self- reliance among girl students and women.
  • To encourage participation of NGOs working in the area of women’s development in the activities of the Cell.

Smart Girl Program

 

Women Development Cell (WDC) of Reena Mehta College of Arts, Science, Commerce & Management Studies in association with BJS (NGO) organized Smart Girl Program from 18-12-2021 to 23-12-2021 from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm through online mode.

The program was inaugurated by Mr. Rakesh Jain, Director of ISMT Business School who welcomed all the girls and informed about life changing modules which they will be learning in next few days. After inauguration the session was handed over to trainer Mrs. Sunanda Tated who took sessions on Self-Awareness, Self Esteem and Self Defence, Communication and Relationships, Friendship and Temptation, Choices and Decisions & Dialogue with Parents.

On the last day, during interaction with the parents, they told Its was truly inspiring and helpful the workshop for the girls. This program was attended by 58 students in all and they were inspired and motivated by the session conducted by the trainer.

 

 

Unequal Pay: Gender Discrimination at Work Place

 

 

IQAC & WDC of Reena Mehta College of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management Studies In support with National Commission for Women organised One Day National Webinar on “UNEQUAL PAY: GENDER DISCRIMINATION AT WORK PLACE” on 11th December, 2021.

Dr Hema Mehta in her keynote highlighted on the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2020 which says men and women will have pay equality in 257 years. Of the 153 countries studied for the report, India ranks 112th on the overall Global Gender Gap Index. The economic gender gap runs particularly deep and has gotten significantly wider. Maam suggested the measures which can be taken at Micro level and suggested strategies for tackling Gender Pay Gap.

The Plenary session (Panel Discussion) included Dr Jitendra Aherkar,  I/C Principal, B. L. AMLANI College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai, Dr Yogita Mandole, Asst. Professor, Smt. Surajba College of Education, Mumbai and Prof. Amar Salve, Assistant Professor, HVPS College of Law, Mumbai, as resourse person.

The panel discussion focused on stereo type thoughts of the participants. The measures to be taken for gender discrimination and what results can be expected out of the same. Articles like 13, 14, 15 & 16 were included with the case on Air India and suggested Voice should be raised for Equity and Justice & Institutional level Gender Inclusion in all committees.

The valedictory note was given Dr. Shraddha Anilkumar, Principal, Dayanand Arya Kanya Mahavidyalaya Jariptka Nagpur-14, where she gave practical examples where gender inequality is faced in various fields with facts and figures.

The session was ended with the video on “Women speak out” highlighting the challenges faced by women.

Awareness on Hygiene and life cycle of female

 

Women Development Cell of RMC on 30th July, 2019, organised a session on “Awareness on Hygiene and life cycle of female” in the presence of Dr. (Mrs.) Satindar Kaur Gujral and under the Co-ordinator Mrs.Swati Saigal. This session was conducted by Dr. Uma Bansal who is M.S in Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and fertility specialist . She covered information on Menstrual cycles, PCOD, cervical Cancer, Vaccine, medicines, hygiene skills and productive diet for females. More than 200 girls from Degree College participated actively by asking questions and clarifying their doubts. Overall session was successful with good remarks from the students.

Navaratri Celebration 

 

Women’s World Club (WWC) in association with Reena Mehta College organised Navaratri celebration on 12th Oct, 2019 at the college auditorium .On this occasion,. members of WWC enthralled on Raas Garba beats. The event was inaugurated by Chairperson Mrs Reena Mehta Madam along with with the members of WWC.Honorable Mayor Mrs. Dimple Mehta graced the event with her presence. There was best garba performance & best costume. All the members of WWC were bestowed with blessing of Godess & gifts.

Break Free from Single Use Plastics

 

An awareness campaign was organized on Break Free from Single Use Plastics on 29th of September 2019 at Reena Mehta College. This Campaign was as per the directives given by our honourable Prime Minister SHRI NARENDRA MODI to the nation. This campaign was started at 3:00pm at our college premises, students warmly welcomed the Chief Guests Honourable Shri Narendra Mehta Sir, MLA of Mira-Bhayandar, Honourable Mayor MBMC Mrs. Dimple Mehta, Honourable Deputy Mayor Shri Chandrakant Vaity Sir and other BJP post holders and dignitaries, with gracefully lezim dance. This campaign was valuable for all the members present on this occasion because it is time each one of us must understand the severity of the issue and stop the use of single use plastics as they are proving to be hazardous for the environment. We feel very blessed to be the part of such institution which not only educates the students but also provides helping hands and shows gratitude towards the nation.

Smart Girls

 

Women Development Cell of Reena Mehta College of Arts, Commerce, Science and Management studies in association with Bhartiya Jain Sanghatana (BJS) had organised workshop on Smart Girls on 4th December 2019, where in the girls were taught about self-awareness, self-esteem, self-defence, communication and relationships, choices and decisions, dialogue with parents. The session was conducted by Ms. Urmi Jhalawat, who is a trainer at the NGO (BJS).
